Bei vielen Angeltechniken und modernen Angelk\u00f6dern ist es jedoch enorm wichtig, dass die Schlepp- oder Driftgeschwindigkeit absolut perfekt dem K\u00f6der angepasst ist. F\u00fcr das moderne, pelagische Angeln oder vertikale Angeltechniken f\u00e4llt ein derartiger Minn Kota also aus. Der Vorteil der festen G\u00e4ngen bei einem Minn Kota Bootsmotor ist auch klar: Der Preis. Elektromotoren mit stufenloser Regelung sind\u00a0 teurer, da mehr Technik in den E-Motor verbaut werden muss. Minn Kota Elektromotoren mit festen G\u00e4ngen sind jedoch f\u00fcr eine Vielzahl von Situationen beim Angeln absolut ausreichend. Wer einfach nur Montagen ausfahren will (Karpfenangler, Welsangler) oder ein kleines Schlauchboot zum Drillen ben\u00f6tigt, ist mit einem gestuft geregelten Minn Kota ausreichend bedient. Gleiches gilt f\u00fcr all die Angler, denen eine sehr exakte Kontrolle der Geschwindigkeit egal ist. Wer den Minn Kota zum Beispiel nur dazu nutzt, um mit dem Schlauchboot zu einem Angelplatz zu gelangen, an dem er sich verankert, dem reicht das 5 Speed System von Minn Kota vollkommen aus.
